Caring of a world of water

The care with the existing water on the planet has become a major concern of the new millennium. According to Abiclor (Associação Brasileira de Cloro), water treatment is responsible for an increase of 50 per cent in life expectancy rates.

The WHO (World Health Organization) warns that 2.5 million people, mostly children, die every year due to water-related diseases. In addition, 1.2 billion people have no access to drinking water and 2.4 billion people have no access to sanitation.

Historically, water treatment with chlorine has contributed to eliminate various diseases such as cholera and typhoid. In developed countries, such as the US, almost 90% of the water treatment stations use chlorine-related technologies for sanitation. For each dollar invested in sanitation, the return lies between 3 and 30 dollars due to the reduction of healthcare costs.

Theses facts have a direct impact on the world’s sustainability, and are considered by Beraca as an essential focus for well-being. For this reason, the company works continuously on the development of specific technologies for water treatment. Its solutions have contributed to allow the government and private companies to care for the water and ensure the supply of large urban and rural populations.

Treatment of residues from industrial processes, is also a know-how acquired by the company throughout its existence.

The UNO’s (United Nations Organization) millennium goals establish that between 1990 and 2015 there must be a reduction of 50% in the proportion of people in the world with no access to drinking water and sanitation. To achieve these goals, 125,000 people must gain access to treated water every day until 2015.

Studies indicate that this goal will not be achieved if there is no increased effort from governments and society.

Beraca has innovative water treatment Technologies and is ready to contribute to this challenge. The company operates in more than 15,000 cities throughout Brazil, amounting to over 47 million people reached by treated water.

Beraca’s Water Technologies division is one of the largest suppliers of chlorine and its derivatives in Latin America.

The division offers products such as chlorine gas in cylinders, chlorine tablets, sodium hypochlorite, aluminum poly-chlorine, otho-polyfosfate, polymers and flocculants, in addition to services such as chlorine cylinder maintenance, design, execution, installation and operation of chlorination and water reuse plants.
